Every year the winter and contest season takes off with the well known
´Kaunertal Opening’.
For the 22nd time the opening was this year honoured with bright sunshine
and pleasant temperatures the whole weekend which was a delightful aspect
for the public and the 126 male and female contest shredders.
Two lines were to be ridden: the superpipe and the BIG PARK mini shred
course. All participants competed in every discipline in one group: pros
and amateurs, male and female all in a jam format. The format seamed to
please, the tricks became more technical in every run and the smile on
the riders faces got bigger and bigger.
Straight after the successful contest, the most impressive riders were
honoured as the shredders of the day and received their deserved prizemoney.
In the party tent in downtown Feichten bands such as Mono and Nikkitaman,
3 feet smaller etc. were underlining the party-generations behaviour.
While on both Friday and Saturday night, brand new Snowboard-movies premiered
Optimistic? and Walk the plank), the party-went insane, parking places
and hotels were booked out like always.
During daytime the snowboard-industry under the synonym “back on
snow” offered to test their newest quiver. Visitors were stoked
to pay more or less nothing for being hosted very friendly. T-Shirts and
other goodies were given out for free, and the culmination was the handed
out Tiger Beer by the Pleasure magazine crew.
No clouds in the sky for 3 days was the doping of the weekend, and with
quite sunburned skin you could recognize the people who made it up during
the day. Another thing was the cops. They went seriously nuts this weekend
and stopped wherever they could on several things. Some of our buddies
got in trouble; some had to escape the police… C u next year !
